Cannot get Presenter View to work in PowerPoint 2010

Question

Hi there,
I have followed all instructions carefully, but cannot get Presenter View to work. Whenever I click on "use presenter view" in the Monitors tab (while connected to a second monitor) I get the same error message:
"This feature is for use with more than one monitor, but only one monitor was detected. To see if your computer can display on multiple monitors click the check button"
Of course I click check but it only opens the display settings dialogue. I tried playing with changing all the settings but it won't help. My computer shows the same screen on my laptop and on the 2nd monitor no matter what I do. Very frustrating!  Please help!
Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for using Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.

From your description, please confirm the following steps you have tried after the display settings dialogue opened:

For Windows 7:

1.You will see display 1 and 2 as when you have connected second display, otherwise connect the second display and hit the “Detect” button.
2.Now you need to Extend displays, so choose “Extend these displays” option from “Multiple displays” Drop-Down and hit the Apply button.
3.Hit the Keep change button if you see this message and close the window.
4. Now go back to PowerPoint and make sure “Use Presenter View” is checked.

If anything is unclear or if there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

 SincerelyRex Zhang
